Robert (Bob)Wayt Smith is a Realist painter with over three decades of experience as a freelance artist and illustrator. During his time, he has had numerous solo shows, and his work has appeared in a variety of publications. Since 1999 Bob has showcased his work at the Maryland Renaissance festival in Crownsville, Maryland.

Bob's work is inspired by such Old Masters as Waterhouse, Gerome and Rembrandt. He creates his works using traditional oil painting methods. By applying several layers of glazes, an illusion of depth is established; this allows the finished painting to appear to glow from within. Bob's subject matter includes portraiture, naturalistic landscapes, and figurative works, each work imbued with a sense of timelessness.
